OK, let's try to get this discussion a bit back on track. It sounds
like there are a few concerns about whether details of the interface
(e.g., futures) are perfect. I think it might be useful to jump up a
level and address this question:
Would we rather design and implement core network protocols on top of
the standard send/sendDone interface, or something more like
SendPoolEntry?
If the answer is the former, then we can shelve this discussion for a
later date and get to working on protocols. If the answer is the
latter, then we can discuss the matter further, but more importantly,
have people try out different variants and then let the group compare
the results in terms of code cleanliness, opportunities for
optimization, etc.
What are people's opinions on the above question?
Phil
