Dear net2-wg members,
this message is to officially let everyone know that I am stepping
down as the chair of the working group. Om is the new chair.
The working group has defined collection and dissemination interfaces,
protocols, and reference implementations, and these are more
principled, and solid, than the ones that were previously found in
TinyOS 1.x.
We have also had many discussions on possible next steps, including
the definition of an SP-like link layer abstraction, the maturing of
the network layer architecture, as well as other abstractions such as
point-to-point routing, network-wide broadcast, and a Deluge-like
service.
The group activity has decreased in the last few months, with most
discussions focused on the development of CTP. CTP is reaching a more
mature state, with very good results in terms of reliability, and we
are pushing it towards interoperability of different implementations,
low power, and on the support for higher level transport mechanisms
like congestion and rate control.
We hope that this coming year we can gain momentum as people help
decide the new interesting problems to work on!
Thanks, and Happy New year to all.
Rodrigo
