I guess host-side refers to serial_tun. It's a daemon decoding 6lowpan
packets on the USB from the base station mote and putting them as IPv6
packets onto the tun interface and the other way round -
6lowpan-encapsulating IPv6 packets from the tun interface and putting
them onto the USB port for the base station mote.

I do not recall saying that it works only on TelosB. With tinyos cvs
version from March or so this year it worked with both TelosB and
micaz.
Currently I have two tmote sky motes and the code hangs in
mote/Ping/IPP.nc:sendTask() with the tinyos cvs version from 2 weeks
ago. I have not yet found out what exactly goes wrong.
