While it may not be worth blocking the initial release on it, I think
there is enough historical momentum behind developing on TinyOS under
cygwin/win32 to justify adding a windows driver to the blip roadmap.
Another argument in favor of developing such a driver is that it
increases the size of these IPv6 networks to fold PCs into the mix of
valid blip hosts. The easier it is to make a netbook into a gateway for
6lowpan clusters, the better.
Here are some links that may be helpful to getting a Windows driver
going for blip:
TunTap Driver in OpenVPN:

HttpDisk sample:
http://www.acc.umu.se/~bosse/
Binding to Microsoft Loopback Driver:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839013
A good list of goals for the initial BLIP release is:
- Simple compile and deploy from T2 core tree.
- Transport:
- UDP support
+ TCP support
+ Fragmentation
- Demos:
- list nodes in network (discovery)
- ping6 a node
- tracert6 a node
+ RESTful http into a node:
http://[2001:...]/get?values=voltage,unique_id
http://[2001:...]/set?led=red&sample_rate=600
+ shell / telnet into a node (http interface likely
better)
- Platforms:
- TelosB / MicaZ
+ Other CC2420: Imote2
+ Other radios: rf230 / Iris
- Host Drivers:
- Linux
+ Other unix: Darwin Mac OSX
+ Windows XP/Vista

Subject: [net2-wg] blip - windows / linux
Is it possible to get a sense of the fraction of users who use Windows
vs Linux/BSD etc from the download log?
This might be relevant for blip release - do we need a windows driver
before the release?
