Chad,
Initially, I had faced tough time while adding the functionality to the core TOSSIM for which I had a look at how the noise modeling was integrated first and hence made myself to work.
It would be of great help if its put as a tutorial for those who may need to add extensions. Apart from what you specified, I think thats what even I know. I will surely let you know if any.

Subject: [sim-wg] Howto contribute third party extensions
So I was talking to Razvan about how third party extensions work with
TOSSIM. I think it would be a good idea to put out a document on how
we want these to work and "lessons learned" from our experiences.
It was a bit of trial and error when I did the SF stuff. So it might
be helpful. As I see it there are three classes of extensions.
The first is the simple extension which just have TinyOS components.
An example might be a new DemoSensorC which gives a random value.
The second is an extension which adds sim directories to existing components.
The third is the hardest to handle and is the one I'm most familiar
with. Its when the extension changes some core functionality of
already existing TOSSIM code.
I'm going to take a stab at a document to do this. I'd like the group
to help review it. Venkatesh from a are there additional lessons
learned to add viewpoint. Phil from a "is this a sane way to do it."
And from the rest of the group from a "usability" standpoint.
I'm not sure what this document gets classified. Its not a TEP but a
WG Recommendation?
Anyway, once I get a draft out, I'll let you guys know.
Cheers
Chad
