As you know, net2 is currently wrapping up its CTP work. I think your
experience working on multihop routing will be valuable when community
thinks it is time to add generic multihop routing framework in the
distribution. Please keep us updated with your effort. We are
definitely interested.

protocols to transport small packets in an arborescent topology."
First, the current distribution makes it very easy to implement your
own address free collection routing protocol.
Second, Dissemination does not assume an arborescent topology.
