Dear all,

if you are following this list you are probably already aware of several
threads where the issue of migrating TinyOS to alternative version control
and issue tracking tools has been raised.

There are many reasons why such a change might be beneficial to the TinyOS
development process. The policy of keeping the HEAD in a relatively stable
state, combined with the serious deficiencies of CVS in branching and
merging, has effectively pushed the bleeding edge development outside of the
official trees and in alternative external repositories. With this the
process has lost some transparency and it is very hard to coordinate the
efforts of small developer groups from different institutions. A migration
to a more modern VCS and issue tracking infrastructure might alleviate some
of these difficulties.

To gather the feelings of the developer community on this issue, the Core WG
has prepared a simple poll that is available at the following link:

Please take some time to voice your opinion and help us better understand
your needs and preferences.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Vlado
