[Tinyos-help] need to switch off RF when changing frequency?

I found a checkpoint report of UC Berkeley EECS150 2006 which says the
following:
" After changing the frequency programmed in the FSCTRL configuration
register, described above, it is necessary to issue the SRFOFF command
strobe.  If this is not done, channel changing will not always work.  "
Is it true?
