Charles,
You can try following command as well and see if it works...
MIB510=/dev/com# make micaz install. <Mote id>

Where com# = com port
Mote id = any id you want to assign to your mote.

Also check the com port to which your mote is attached, if it is different
than COM1 then you need to make changes in the makeXbowLocal file as well
with corresponding com port to which your MIB programmer is attached.
