It sounds like modifying sim.extra (and sim-fast.extra) to do some  
smarter OS probing is in order. In particular, something on the order  
of a regular expression that looks for 'darwin' or 'cygwin' in OSTYPE  
(while remaining case insensitive).

Until then, OSTYPE=XXX make micaz sim is your friend.
