If you are asking about tools for editing files, any plain text editor
will work, even Windows Notepad. But there are thousands of other choices,
my favorite being VIM (because vi is hardwired into my fingers) but
the Eclipse system can be used either with a plugin (which I continue
to be unsuccessful in installing correctly) or by treating .nc files as
plain text projects.
And if you were really asking about how to edit files I suspect that
you will need to get some C and Java instruction as well. For which
I send people off to wikibooks as a start.
