Assuming that you are using XMesh apps depending on the type (i.e.
XMTSxxx), you may not be able to go faster than once every second.
XServe lets you specify the File data sink with the file name and its
path.

Subject: [Tinyos-help] Sampling Rate and Data Location
Hello All,
Using the Xserve manual I was able to start the xserve and xserve
terminal and use the command set_rate <destination address> <new rate>
to increase the sampling rate of that IRIS mote. However, the xserve
Cygwin screen only shows a new packet every 1 or 2 seconds. So my
question is whether or not this command actually increases sampling rate
or not?
Also, where is the data saved or how can I specifiy a location and file
extension? I wish to import a text file version of the data into MATLAB
for further processing.
I'm currently using Crossbow IRIS platform with Windows XP operating
system.
As always, thanks for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.
