MoteView can only recognize XMesh-based packets as outlined in Chapter 1 of the MoteConfig manual below.
http://www.xbow.com/Support/Support_pdf_files/MoteConfig_Users_Manual.pdf
The "unknown packet" means MoteView can not understand the data sent from nodes, which could be due to the non-XMesh app.
I hope that helps,
Giri

Subject: [Tinyos-help] moteview can not display node data
Hi,
I am recently doing some test using Moteview2.0, the programme has went
through the TinyViz and serialforward, it works fine and got the result
suppose to be.
But when I follow the steps described in the mannual of moteview,I only saw
the server message: [MV]:unknown packet:
0xffff0a011a01008412010072016301680161015201480148014b016d017001
[MV]:unknown packet: ......... the content of the packet changes but I can
not see anything in the node data area and the node icon in the left hand
are all grey.
Dose any body know what is the problem?
Thanks a lot.
Regards
Wen
