[Tinyos-help] Serial port hopping question

Hi folks,

I'm fairly new to TinyOS and I've modified the RSSI Demo program a
bit. Instead of the base station calculating the RSSI between itself
and the sending node, two "field nodes" calculate the RSSI, place that
in a packet and forward it on to the base station.

I'm using TMotes, TinyOS 2.1.0 and Ubuntu 8.10.

I also have a simple Java application which writes the original sender
ID, receiver ID and RSSI contained in the packet the base station
receives when it gets forwarded on. I ran this application and things
were going just fine but I noticed that the output stopped even though
the base station still signaled that it was getting packets after a
couple hours of execution. I ran motelist and while originally I had
set up MOTECOM=serial@/dev/ttyUSB0 motelist told me that the mote was
detected on ttyUSB1 now. I changed MOTECOM, tested the app and after a
couple hours sure enough it went back to telling me the mote was on
ttyUSB0.

Has anyone encountered this phenomenon and cleared it up?

Thanks!

Scott
